discretize — Group numeric data into bins.

discretize(X,edges) returns one-based bin numbers for values in X using numeric bin edges.

How discretize works

  • Supports explicit edge vectors, positive scalar bin counts, string labels, and the IncludedEdge name-value option; the default is left-inclusive/right-exclusive with the final edge included.
  • Out-of-range and NaN inputs return NaN for numeric bin output or missing strings for labeled output.
