issortedrows — Determine whether matrix or table rows are sorted.

issortedrows(A) returns true when A is already in the row order produced by sortrows(A).

Syntax

tf = issortedrows(A)
tf = issortedrows(A, args...)

Inputs

NameTypeRequiredDefaultDescription
AAnyYesInput matrix, character matrix, complex matrix, or table.
argsAnyVariadicColumn, direction, comparison, and missing-placement options.

Returns

NameTypeDescription
tfLogicalArrayTrue when rows are sorted according to the requested row order.

Errors

IdentifierWhenMessage
RunMat:issortedrows:InvalidInputInput or row-sorting arguments are invalid.issortedrows: invalid input

How issortedrows works

  • Supports the same row ordering arguments as sortrows, including column and direction arguments for supported inputs.

Example

Check sorted rows

tf = issortedrows([1 2; 2 3])

Expected output:

tf = true

Using issortedrows with coding agents

Open a RunMat example with live inputs, then ask the agent to explain how issortedrows changes the result.

Run a small issortedrows example, explain the result, then change one input and compare the output.

Open-source implementation

Unlike proprietary runtimes, every RunMat function is open-source. Read exactly how issortedrows is executed, line by line, in Rust.

About RunMat

RunMat is an open-source runtime that executes MATLAB-syntax code blazing on any GPU. It is licensed under the Apache 2.0 license.

  • RunMat automatically optimizes your math for GPU execution on Apple, Nvidia, and AMD hardware. No code changes needed. Simulations that took hours now take minutes.
  • Start running code in seconds. RunMat runs in the browser, on the desktop, or from the CLI. No license server, no IT ticket.
