cell2table — Convert a cell array into a table.
cell2table(C) converts each cell-array column into a table variable.
Syntax
T = cell2table(C, Name, Value, ...)Inputs
| Name | Type | Required | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|---|---|
C | Any | Yes | — | Two-dimensional cell array whose columns become table variables. |
Name,Value | Any | Variadic | — | VariableNames and RowNames options. |
Returns
| Name | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|
T | Any | Table result. |
Errors
| Identifier | When | Message |
|---|---|---|
RunMat:table:InvalidArgument | Arguments or table metadata are invalid. | table: invalid argument |
RunMat:table:InvalidIndex | Table indexing is invalid. | table: invalid index |
RunMat:table:InvalidVariable | A table variable name or value is invalid. | table: invalid variable |
How cell2table works
"VariableNames"and"RowNames"are supported.- Compatible one-row values in each column are concatenated into a homogeneous variable; incompatible values remain a column cell array.
- Same-class integer columns preserve exact native storage for all eight classes. Mixed integer columns use the leftmost integer class with saturating conversion; scalar doubles may coexist except with
int64oruint64.
Example
Convert cells
T = cell2table({1, 'a'; 2, 'b'}, 'VariableNames', {'A','B'})Expected output:
T = 2x2 tableUsing cell2table with coding agents
Open a RunMat example with live inputs, then ask the agent to explain how cell2table changes the result.
Run a small cell2table example, explain the result, then change one input and compare the output.
