verLessThan — Compare RunMat's MATLAB compatibility version with a requested version.
verLessThan('matlab', version) compares RunMat's MATLAB compatibility version against version and returns a logical scalar.
Syntax
value = runtimeCompat(args...)Inputs
| Name | Type | Required | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|---|---|
args | Any | Variadic | — | Version query arguments. |
Returns
| Name | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|
value | Any | Version or logical result. |
Errors
| Identifier | When | Message |
|---|---|---|
RunMat:runtimeCompat:InvalidInput | Arguments are malformed or unsupported. | runtime compatibility helper: invalid input |
How verLessThan works
- The product name
matlabis recognized case-insensitively. - Unknown products return false, matching compatibility-branch use where non-MATLAB products are not installed.
- Version components are compared numerically from left to right.
Does RunMat run verLessThan on the GPU?
No GPU kernels are launched.
GPU memory and residency
The result is a host logical scalar.
Example
Branching on MATLAB compatibility version
tf = verLessThan('matlab', '99.0')Expected output:
tf = logical(1)Using verLessThan with coding agents
Open a RunMat example with live inputs, then ask the agent to explain how verLessThan changes the result.
Run a small verLessThan example, explain the result, then change one input and compare the output.
