anymissing — Return true when an input contains at least one missing value.

anymissing(A) is the scalar predicate companion to ismissing; it is true when any entry of A is missing.

How anymissing works

  • Numeric NaN, missing strings, missing cells, structs with missing fields, and tables with any missing variable entry all return true.
  • All eight built-in integer classes are supported; because integers have no standard missing value, integer scalars and arrays return false.

Example

Test for any missing value

tf = anymissing([1 NaN 3])

Expected output:

tf = true

Using anymissing with coding agents
