movmad — Compute moving median absolute deviation.
movmad(A, k) computes the median absolute deviation inside a centered moving window of length k.
Syntax
B = nanmean(A, ...)Inputs
| Name | Type | Required | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|---|---|
A | Any | Yes | — | Input value. |
args | Any | Variadic | — | Method, dimension, or option arguments. |
Returns
| Name | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|
B | Any | Result value. |
Errors
| Identifier | When | Message |
|---|---|---|
RunMat:missing:InvalidArgument | Arguments do not match a supported missing-value syntax. | missing-value builtin: invalid argument |
RunMat:missing:UnsupportedType | The input type has no missing-value representation in RunMat. | missing-value builtin: unsupported input type |
RunMat:missing:InternalError | Internal shape or table materialization fails. | missing-value builtin: internal error |
How movmad works
- Numeric vectors and matrices are supported.
- The first non-singleton dimension is used by default; dimension
1or2may be supplied as an argument or"dim", value. "omitnan"ignores NaN values inside each moving window;"includenan"propagates NaN when present.
Example
Moving MAD over a column
M = movmad([1; 2; 100; 4; 5], 3)Expected output:
M = [0.5; 1; 2; 1; 0.5]Using movmad with coding agents
Open a RunMat example with live inputs, then ask the agent to explain how movmad changes the result.
Run a small movmad example, explain the result, then change one input and compare the output.
