tiedrank — Rank observations using average ranks for ties.
tiedrank(X) assigns ascending average ranks to numeric observations and preserves the input shape. [R,tieadj] = tiedrank(X) also returns tie adjustment terms.

How tiedrank works
- Equal values receive the average of their occupied ranks.
NaNinputs remainNaNin the output.- Vector inputs are ranked across all elements.
- Matrix inputs are ranked independently within each column.
- N-dimensional inputs are ranked along the second dimension.
tieadjis a scalar for vector inputs and has the ranked dimension collapsed to length one for array inputs.

How are ties handled?⌄
All observations in a tie group receive the average rank for that group. The second output reports the sum of t^3 - t terms for tie groups in each ranked slice.
