addDependencyDetails — Add dependency-head tags to tokenized documents.
addDependencyDetails(documents) adds dependency-head metadata to a RunMat tokenizedDocument compatibility object. Use tokenDetails to view the resulting Head and Dependency columns.

How addDependencyDetails works
documentsmust be a RunMattokenizedDocumentobject.addDependencyDetailshas no name-value options.- RunMat ensures sentence-number details exist before computing dependencies, so
tokenDetailsreturnsSentenceNumberalongsideHeadandDependency. Headstores the one-based index of the syntactic head token within the same document. Root tokens use0.Dependencystores Universal Dependencies-style labels such asroot,nsubj,obj,det,amod,advmod,case,obl,aux,cc,mark,punct,nummod, anddep.- RunMat uses deterministic English and German compatibility rules over the shared part-of-speech classifier. Existing Japanese or Korean language metadata is accepted with conservative token-class-aware fallback dependencies.
- Exact MathWorks statistical dependency-parser parity, MeCab-backed Japanese/Korean tokenization, and broader language-detail model parity remain tracked as Text Analytics work.
GPU memory and residency
addDependencyDetails updates host tokenizedDocument metadata and has no provider kernel.
Example
Add Dependency Details
documents = tokenizedDocument("The dogs chase cats.");
documents = addDependencyDetails(documents);
tdetails = tokenDetails(documents)Expected output:
`tdetails` includes `Head` and `Dependency` columns.Using addDependencyDetails with coding agents
Open a RunMat example with live inputs, then ask the agent to explain how addDependencyDetails changes the result.
Run a small addDependencyDetails example, explain the result, then change one input and compare the output.
FAQ
Does addDependencyDetails use a full parser model?⌄
No. This compatibility slice uses deterministic dependency rules and records exact MathWorks parser parity as remaining Text Analytics work.
Does addDependencyDetails execute on the GPU?⌄
No. It updates host tokenizedDocument metadata.
