setpref — Store a named preference value for the current RunMat session.
setpref(group, preference, value) stores a value under a textual group and preference name for the current RunMat session. Preference values retain their RunMat class, shape, and nested structure.
Syntax
setpref(group, preference, value)Inputs
| Name | Type | Required | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|---|---|
input1 | Any | Yes | — | First input argument. |
input2 | Any | Yes | — | Second input argument. |
input3 | Any | No | — | Optional third input argument. |
Returns
| Name | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|
value | Any | Result value. |
How setpref works
- Group and preference names accept string scalars or character row vectors.
- The value may use any supported datatype. All eight integer classes are cloned without changing class, shape, or payload.
- Resident values gather through the owning provider before host-side session storage; the exact gathered class is retained.
- Preferences currently live for the RunMat session. Durable cross-session preference storage is not yet implemented.
Using setpref with coding agents
Open a RunMat example with live inputs, then ask the agent to explain how setpref changes the result.
Run a small setpref example, explain the result, then change one input and compare the output.
