readtimetable — Read tabular data into a timetable.

readtimetable(filename, ...) imports with readtable and converts the result to a timetable.

Syntax

B = tabularBuiltin(A, ...)

Inputs

AAnyYesInput value.
argsAnyVariadicName-value options or conversion arguments.

Returns

outAnyResult value.

Errors

RunMat:table:InvalidIndexTable indexing is invalid.table: invalid index
RunMat:table:InvalidVariableA table variable name or value is invalid.table: invalid variable

How readtimetable works

  • Text and spreadsheet options accepted by readtable are forwarded.
  • "RowTimes" is applied during table-to-timetable conversion instead of being forwarded to readtable.
  • Row times are inferred from a leading datetime/duration variable when available; otherwise sequential numeric row times are generated.

Examples

Read timetable

TT = readtimetable('data.csv')

Expected output:

TT = timetable object

Read with explicit row times

TT = readtimetable('data.csv', 'RowTimes', [1;2])

Expected output:

TT = timetable object with explicit row times

Using readtimetable with coding agents

Open a RunMat example with live inputs, then ask the agent to explain how readtimetable changes the result.

Run a small readtimetable example, explain the result, then change one input and compare the output.

Open-source implementation

Unlike proprietary runtimes, every RunMat function is open-source. Read exactly how readtimetable is executed, line by line, in Rust.

About RunMat
