arrayDatastore — Create a datastore for an in-memory array.
arrayDatastore(A) retains an in-memory array together with ReadSize, IterationDimension, and OutputType properties. Integer A remains in its exact native class.
Syntax
arrds = arrayDatastore(A)
arrds = arrayDatastore(A, nameValuePairs...)Inputs
| Name | Type | Required | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|---|---|
A | Any | Yes | — | In-memory array managed by the datastore. |
nameValuePairs | Any | Variadic | — | ReadSize, IterationDimension, or OutputType options. |
Returns
| Name | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|
arrds | Any | ArrayDatastore object retaining the in-memory data and read properties. |
Errors
| Identifier | When | Message |
|---|---|---|
RunMat:table:InvalidArgument | Arguments or table metadata are invalid. | table: invalid argument |
RunMat:table:InvalidIndex | Table indexing is invalid. | table: invalid index |
RunMat:table:InvalidVariable | A table variable name or value is invalid. | table: invalid variable |
RunMat:readtable:IOError | readtable cannot open or read the requested file. | readtable: file read failed |
RunMat:readtable:UnsupportedFileType | readtable receives a file type outside the text or spreadsheet import backends. | readtable: unsupported file type |
How arrayDatastore works
ReadSizeandIterationDimensionmust be positive integer-valued doubles; typed-integer controls reject.OutputTypeis"cell"or"same", and"same"requires iteration dimension 1.- Interactive resident input is a mode-gated RunMat extension. It gathers exact typed storage before host object construction and rejects in MATLAB-compatible mode.
- RunMat currently represents this as a value descriptor whose
Dataproperty exposes the retained payload. Stateful iterator operations such asread,readall,preview,hasdata, andresetrequire a datastore handle/dispatch layer and are not yet provided.
Example
Retain typed data with explicit read properties
ds = arrayDatastore(int16([1;2]), 'ReadSize', 2, 'OutputType', 'same')Expected output:
ds = arrayDatastore objectUsing arrayDatastore with coding agents
Open a RunMat example with live inputs, then ask the agent to explain how arrayDatastore changes the result.
Run a small arrayDatastore example, explain the result, then change one input and compare the output.

About RunMat
RunMat is an open-source runtime that executes MATLAB-syntax code blazing on any GPU. It is licensed under the Apache 2.0 license.
- RunMat automatically optimizes your math for GPU execution on Apple, Nvidia, and AMD hardware. No code changes needed. Simulations that took hours now take minutes.
- Start running code in seconds. RunMat runs in the browser, on the desktop, or from the CLI. No license server, no IT ticket.
