intmax — Return the largest value of an integer class.
intmax returns the largest representable value for an integer class. With no class name, RunMat follows MATLAB's int32 default.
Syntax
value = limit()
value = limit(classname)Inputs
| Name | Type | Required | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|---|---|
classname | StringScalar | No | — | Numeric class name. |
Returns
| Name | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|
value | Any | Limit value. |
Errors
| Identifier | When | Message |
|---|---|---|
RunMat:numericLimits:InvalidClass | The requested class is not supported by the limit query. | numeric limit: unsupported class |
How intmax works
- Supports int8, int16, int32, int64, uint8, uint16, uint32, and uint64 class names.
Does RunMat run intmax on the GPU?
No GPU kernels are launched.
GPU memory and residency
The result is host-resident.
Example
Default integer maximum
intmaxExpected output:
ans = int32(2147483647)Using intmax with coding agents
Open a RunMat example with live inputs, then ask the agent to explain how intmax changes the result.
Run a small intmax example, explain the result, then change one input and compare the output.
FAQ

About RunMat
RunMat is an open-source runtime that executes MATLAB-syntax code blazing on any GPU. It is licensed under the Apache 2.0 license.
- RunMat automatically optimizes your math for GPU execution on Apple, Nvidia, and AMD hardware. No code changes needed. Simulations that took hours now take minutes.
- Start running code in seconds. RunMat runs in the browser, on the desktop, or from the CLI. No license server, no IT ticket.
